This one-day primer covers essential Essbase topics
for non-technical users. The course covers and overview
of Hyperion System 9 BI+, and describes the role of
these products in the organization. Through lecture
and exercises students will learn a basic vocabulary
for multidimensional concepts, as well as fundamental
terminologies for Analytic Services databases. Students
will learn what an outline is and specific terms such
as members, shared members, aliases, and consolidation
attributes. Students will learn the meaning of alternate
rollups, attribute dimensions, and User-Defined Attributes.
Fundamentals of calculation concepts, loading data,
and security are covered, and then focus shifts to the
Spreadsheet Add-in and Smart View to cover basic mechanics
of report construction. Samples and exercises demonstrate
report layout, options, member selection, and basic
retrievals.
